Thunderbolt to Display Port

Hello!

I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2014 with Thunderbolt and HMDI as options for video output and I want to use an external Samsung Monitor (with Display Port and HDMI Input)

This Monitor supports 60Hz only when connected via Display Port not via HMDI. So I really want to find an adapter for using this Monitor with my MacBook but at 60Hz.

Sure, there are tons of HDMI to Display Port Adapters but I'm afraid that if I use it this way, there's not way to reach 60Hz as the primary video output is obviously HDMI.

Thank you so much in advance for helping me!

Mini DisplayPort is a direct subset of ThunderBolt 1 and 2. No adapter is required, just plug your Mini DisplayPort cable plug into the ThunderBolt 1 or 2 jack, and you are done, for the 2014 models with thunderBolt-2.

For USB-C aka ThunderBolt-3 , you can Not use Apple's adapter from USB-C to thunderBolt-2, because is has a disclaimer that it does not supply a useable DisplayPort signal. So you must jump from USB-C to DisplayPort in one (third-party) adapter. The ones that seem to work best contain references to 4K support in their advertising. Be cautious about items on Amazon -- some are being mailed directly from the Far East and will take all of the predicted 3 to 4 weeks to arrive.

[Full Size] DisplayPort is a simple re-wire of [Mini] DisplayPort. No electronics, just the signals swapped around for the different connector.
