macOS Sierra: About USB-C does not directly answer your question, but UVC1.5 added USB3.x and H.264 support. Most Macs that support USB3 also support UVC1.5.
USB3 was first added to late-2012 Macs (e.g. Mountain Lion).
I do not believe that is true, that support for USB 3 implies support for UVC 1.5. UVC 1.5 support comes in the operating system software, not the hardware.
This question is not about USB 3 support, but rather about USB Video Class (UVC) particulars. The two subjects are not the same.
UVC is supported by drivers on Macs. See iChat as an example. The newer Macs - 2013 and later - support UVC 1.5.
UVC drivers are not implemented in Apple hardware, but rather in Mac OS X. Thus, the question remains open. What is the current UVC version implemented in Mac OS X's USB driver software?
