Tiger OSX 10.4 and Photoshop...what can i do?

I recently purchaced adobe CS2 for my mac and everything works fine ... except for InDesign and Photoshop. I thought mac was a graphic based computer so i don't get why adobe doesn't work on the newest version of it's tiger... ?

Is there anyway that I can download either a patch or crack of somesort that will enable the program to work? OR do i have to downgrade my OS to a 10.4? AND if i do need to downgrade... where can i find a copy.... will mac provide me with one since it's their mistake? = __=

what?, i have been using both programs with tiger for a long long time. I am on 10.4.8 and never had a problem.

So what is your problem?, is it installing, or do they not start up?, do they crash while working?.

Have you tried a new user account and installing on there?.

best,

well apparently the Photoshop CS2, has some problems with the 10.4 or the newest released edition ... something about it not being univeral or something .... O _O

I've actually tried everything ... re booting ...
re-installing ~~~ however I haven't tried to connect on the internet with my mac ... do I need to update my mac ? Like windows and it's service pack 2? 🙂

well when I stick the CD in (it's the whole creative suite btw) it starts to install ... however, it installs only illustrator and golive...it totally skips photoshop and indesign.

the thing of it is, it works on 10.4.8 and it doesn't work on the newer version 10.4...

so ... i don't know is there a patch I can download or do I HAVE TO BUY the lower program and downgraded my os ...

sorry I'm rather ******. = _=

erisdoll,

Adobe CS2 works FINE on 10.4 ... On G5's and G4's ...

Your Macbook wouldn't be an Intel machine by any chance ?

CS 2 - Both InDesign and Photoshop DO NOT run well on an Intel mac, and Version Q doesn't work at all.

There are no patches, and I'm sorry but this is Professional software so no "cracks"...

You need at least 2Gb of ram to run 1 app at a time otherwise the app will lock up.

You will need to get CS3 when it comes out in the next few months.

Actually I just got the macbook this chistmas so I was a bit stunned that I couldn't use photoshop on it =__= sigh ... I was hoping I didn't have to wait for CS3 and apparently I do ... anyway thanks for the help ...

I really just don't understand how such an expensive overhyped computer which is suppose to cater to designers, would create a program that can't install a program which is an industry standard. = _= it just irritates me...

I think the message has been that CS2 does in fact install and run properly on Intel based Macs (like the MacBook).

You say it just doesn't install Photoshop and inDesign-maybe a crazy question, but have you checked the options on the installer to ensure that they are selected? You never mentioned anything about error messages. Does it try to install them but fail, or does it just not try at all? Maybe you try installing it while connected to the internet.

If you're still having problems, you might want to check out the Adobe forums for extra assistance, and further confirmation that it is possible.

EDIT:
Also, what does "the thing of it is, it works on 10.4.8 and it doesn't work on the newer version 10.4..." mean?

10.4.8 IS the newer version of 10.4

Gulliver hello there,

I did read his original post (but was half asleep seeing it was late at night here!) but I was more wondering if he was aware of the issues with running CS 2 on Intel.

If you have PSH running well on an Intel machine then well done! as I have MacPros and MacBook Pros and my users have not been so lucky.

I have got them on 10.4.8 with 2Gb of ram - my supplier recommended 4Gb but that was an extra $1000 - and they can still only run 1 or 2 CS2 apps at a time.

Have you found InDesign to be "worse" stability wise in CS2 on the Intels ??? I'd love to hear others are having problems with that one also...

We've previewed the Beta of PSH CS3 and it is great ! Have you tried it ?

Thanks
Mitch
