Is the 9.7 iPad Pro obsolete?
Prior to WWDC I had bought a new 9.7 iPad Pro, Smart Keyboard and Apple pencil. Does this mean I won't be able to do any of the AR stuff highlighted at WWDC?

No its not obsolete. Far from it.
The 9.7 Pro is still fully supported, will be able to update to iOS 11 in the fall and can do everything that was said would be available with iOS 11.
It's just not being manufactured anymore. But will continue to be supported for the foreseeable future.
