icloud outlook 2007 windows 10

Today I am not able to access my iCloud calendar, contacts etc in outlook 2007 on my windows 10 machine.

Windows 10 has just done an update (it worked prior to the update).

First Outlook said it could not open my iCloud folders because it could not access APLZOD.dll. I was unable to find a file with this name (but a similarly named APLZOD32.dll was in place).

I have removed and re-installed iCloud for Windows (now 6.2.1) and set up the link to Outlook once again. When I configured iCloud Control Panel, it downloaded my calendar and contacts into a new iCloud folder, which is listed in the Outlook Data File list. The iCloud com add-in is listed, active and trusted. But still I get no view of my iCloud Calendars or iCloud Contacts, nor does the iCloud ribbon buttons appear in Outlook.

I am guessing that the add-in is not loading properly or is incompatible in some way.

Can anyone help.

Thanks

The Outlook 2007 security update KB3191898 13 June 2017 disabled the loading of unregistered MAPI services to make Outlook more secure. To see more information on the issues with this see the MS description of the update at:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3191898/descriptionofthesecurityupdatef oroutlook2007june13,2017

The problem is Issue 5 and a workaround is described with the warning that it may make your computer more vulnerable to attack. MS places the blame on third party products.

iCloud can be re-establish for calendars and contacts by using the following procedure, courtesy of Apple support (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204571) :
1. Close Outlook
2. Open iCloud for Windows
3. Deselect the Contacts, Calendars & Tasks checkbox and click Apply
4. Wait a few seconds. Select Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply
5. Open Outlook.

The re-establishment is only temporary and has to be repeated each time the computer is restarted.

What is Apple doing to address the issue of an unregistered MAPI service because modifying the Windows 10 registry potentially introduces a vulnerability on the PC and the daily requirement to re-establish the iCloud connection is highly inconvenient?

Thank you Lorenzo.

That works perfectly for me.

The iCloud ribbon tools appeared again in Outlook as soon as I removed the update (KB3191898)

I then used the iCloud Control Panel to first uncheck and then re-check the checkbox for Calendar, Contacts and Tasks.

My iCloud Calendars then appeared in Outlook once I restarted Outlook.

Philip .. 🙂

Would you please explain how to uninstall the update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (KB3191898). My OS is Win10.

Yours is the only solution that I have not tried yet. Nothing else is working. I even did a recovery/restore to previous build on my OS but that did nothing. Files download from the cloud to where, I don't know. I am having exactly the same problem as philrick. I would appreciate a step by step on uninstalling the Outlook update as you have mentioned. Thank you.

On Windows 10

Head to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update > Update history.

> Choose Uninstall Updates.

This will then show you a list of all the installed updates.

Click on the update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 - with the KnowledgeBase Number (KB3191898).

The top of the list should now have an Uninstall link, which you should click and follow the onscreen instructions.

Once (KB3191898) has been removed, you should find that the iCloud Ribbon Toolbar re-appears when you open Outlook.

If your iCloud Calendars are not present then close Outlook and use the iCloud Control Panel, de-select the checkbox for Calendar, Contacts etc and hit <Apply>. Then re-select the checkbox and <Apply> to force your data to be fetched from iCloud again.

Open Outlook and all should be there.

Hope it works for you.

Thank you very much. Your solution worked, until I messed something up. The ribbon was back in outlook but the calendars and contact lists were still not showing. I cannot recall what I did next* but I lost the ribbon again. I tried to apply your solution again but the knowledge file was no longer there to be removed. Your solution gave me great hope though! I uninstalled and re-installed icloud for windows. Finally, everything is back to normal. I cannot thank you enough. This happens way to frequently with their updates! I have multiple calendars and contact lists from previous similar issues.

* I think what happened is that I had previously restored my OS to the day bgefore the updates. After I tried your suggestion the first time my OS started re-installing the updates again before I realized it.

OK. Microsoft have screwed it up again.

They have just shipped the Windows 10 upgrade.

This has reset the option to deliver other MS Product upgrades (after I had disabled it) and then downloaded and installed a whole load more MS Office Updates, including Office 2007 SP3.

I cannot see KB3191898 listed, but I suspect it has been 'rolled up' into SP3.

And SP3 cannot be un-installed !!

So once again iCloud interface with Outlook 2007 is broken.

If you get this message before your Windows 10 upgrade.. then don't allow it to happen.

If anyone can suggest a way for me to recover iCloud / Outlook 2007 integration, then I would be a very happy person.

Meantime who do we look to to fix this Microsoft or Apple ... time for some help guys.

I may have spoken too soon.

It is indeed broken but I fixed it by using the iCloud Control Panel.

Remove the tick in the checkbox for Calendars, Contacts etc and <apply>

Then re-tick the checkbox and <apply>

The interface, Calendars and Contacts re-appeared.

One warning though, my list of installed updates seems to have been reset by the Windows 10 upgrade, so if you have not already removed KB3191898 then you may not be able to find it to de-install once the Windows 10 upgrade goes in.
