Unable to open an iTunes account because I have a few cents remaining

I am unable to open an account with iTunes Store because I have 54 cents remaining from a gift card. How can I spend 54 cents when the songs cost more than that? Why can't I donate this to a charity and get on with my life.

I am frustrated and exasperated, especially as Apple are happy to allow me to purchase software on my credit card.

Try this page
http://www.apple.com/nz/support/itunes/musicstore/gift
certificate/ and fill out the form at the bottom and
see if that helps.

I am guessing that you are inquiring about the iTS
New Zealand.

Thank you Mike for answering my question, the problem, however is not solved yet!. Unfortunately when I clicked on the address I received a message that I was using an out dated link.

The gift card was from family in the USA, given to me in September when I was home on a visit. I have been back in NZ since November and I have recently tried unsuccessfully to open an account here. I did not have an account in the States.

If you have any other suggestions I will gladly try them. Cheers Paula

You can only redeem that gift card in the iTS of the country that it was purchased. A US iTS gift can only be redeemed in the US iTS. The same would apply to a gift card from the NZ iTS - redeemable only in the NZ iTS.

If the link is out dated then delete the 'nz' and you should get to the main page.

Hi Mike,

Thank you so much for your help. You deserve the maximum **********
for solving this problem.

I followed your instructions and filled out the form. I received the following instructions from the iTunes Store Customer Support. [I never had an account in the States but my address and phone number in Fort Collins was on record, when I redeemed my Gift Card.] I now have a NZ iTunes Account.

Hello Paula,

I have manually removed the remaining funds from the iTunes Store account "hesterman@mac.com." You may now change your account's billing address to your current country of residence. Follow these steps:

1) Make sure you have the latest version if iTunes. It can be downloaded free-of-charge at the Apple website: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download

2) Open iTunes.

3) From the Store menu, choose Sign In.

4) Enter your account name and password and click Sign In.

5) Once signed in, choose View My Account from the Store menu.

6) On the Apple Account Information page, click Change Country.

7) Select your country from the drop-down menu and then click Change Country.

Reply to this email if you have any problems changing the country associated with your account. Please note that the funds that were removed will not be returned to you once you have switched countries.

Sincerely,

Don
