I have a "pages" document which I am sending to a friend who uses "word". I changed the name of the document's extension to .dox but it still opens to pages which might be because I do not have word installed on my macbook. Will my friend be able to open my pages document with the .dox extension on her computer with "Word".

Is the extension .docx or .dox? It should be .docx. In this format your friend will be able to read your document in MS Word.

Its preatty simple, no changing the extension doesnt work, you have to open the pages document and go to File>Export>Word>Next>choose where to save it>Export-
and thats it 🙂.
I am leaving some screen shots to be more clear.
I changed the extension and sent it to myself but could only read but not revise or edit. I also tried to export as word and PDF, but was unsuccessful. How can I convert my pages document to word.

The shortcut provided by Apple for exporting different file formats is extremely useful
I just bought an IPad Pro 12.9 inch. Based on the trial version, Excel for IPad is cut back to the bone and difficult to justify the cost of Office 365 when I already have a bought version of Office for my MAC.
I'm thus trying to learn Numbers and Pages - which seem much better than the Office IPad versions. That still leaves the issue of communicating with other people who typically use Excel and Word - and I still think I prefer these in their MAC versions.
The Apple advice solves the conversion question this extremely well -and improves my IPad Pro experience.
This methodology deserves more publicity since I was becoming quite disappointed with this aspect.
