Is there a way to switch the volume button from left to right. I never really get used to having the 'volume up' on the left side and would want it to work on the right button (and vice versa) while having my iPad in landscape. I didn't find something to reconfigure the button behaviour in settings.

Turn your iPad around so the volume buttons are on the bottom of the screen and you'll have the volume up button on the right hand side.
Otherwise, used the volume slider in iOS slide up control panel.
Thanks, I know about this, but prefer to have my home button on the right hand side as well as the headphone jack on the left in landscape. And yes the control panel is an option but the buttons are faster to reach (e.g. it takes to swipes while watching a movie against simply pressing a button).
A solution might be not to make use of the buttons.
You can swipe from the bottom of the screen upwards and adjust brightness and volume from there.
