Outlook sync with icloud stopped working

MAPI was unable to load the information service when it was working fine for months, just happened today.

C:\progra~2\common~1\Apple\INTERN~1\APLZOD.DLL

So now my icloud has all my tasks, calendar and contacts and my outlook has been wiped. How do I sync and get them back?

icloud said the sync was completed but it does not work.

I assume you do not use MS Office Outlook ....(software). If you did you would know there are no passwords for add-ins in Outlook. Ill repeat, for all of those in these forums who keep repeating the issue is not with app specific passwords....we are using an product called iCloud for Windows which allows syncing of calendars and contacts from outlook to icloud....and vice versa. There is no such place is MS outlook for one to enter a password. I love how we keep getting the responses to read up on two factor auth and app specific passwords. Its okay if you do not know the answer....it really is...but please stop directing us to useless links. If you do know....tell us where in Outlook we enter such password......"where you normally would enter a password" doesn't fit the bill. We aren't MAC users....we use Windows....and in Outlook the only passwords you enter are for the email POP account.

So it appears...after some research that outlook 2010 home edition is not supported by the latest version of ic loud for Windows....per their site...System requirements for iCloud - Apple Support

It shows at bottom of page: Outlook 2010 Personal Edition isn't supported.....which is dumb. I am lucky enough to be able to get a copy of Office 2016 professional for 10 dollars....I am going to try that...

Some people said they tried downgrading icloud for windows to version 4....I found it on the web....installed it and verified I was running version 4 but it was not compatible with the new two step authorization.

My issue was I was running Outlook 2003....so I have no idea why it stopped working....but I have updated iTunes (which must be done apparently)....have latest version of icloud for windows and am installing outlook 2016....Ill update you. If it doesn't work for me....I'm out....just gonna have to do without calendar syncing with outlook....maybe its their attempt to get people to use the web app outlook like the younger folks are clamoring for....I'm 41 and have been using computers since before most of these helpers have been alive.....lol

I'm sorry but I don't understand the two factor stuff. I followed the directions to get the app specific code but had no idea what to do with it. I'm using Outlook on a PC and it worked great. Then bingo they're gone. Now I'm afraid I have it all screwed up trying to find the disappearing contacts and appointments! Help!😕😕😢

I'm glad to see this. I thought I was the nutty one. I sure couldn't find the place I "would normally enter a password" for my calendars and contacts. Still I wish I could find a way to get my syncing back. It is working on the Windows 10 calendar and contact, but I really want my old Outlook to work again. I like the format much better and it updated instantly.

Yeah IM still working on the issue....after persuing around it appears most trying to help us think we are using an "app"....the young folk do not realize that there exists desktop software you actually install and use instead of just "cloud" apps on phones.

It appears this all started late may to June judging by the posts ....either a Windows update or an iCloud for Windows update broke it. I am experimenting with a few things...I'll keep you posted. Those trying to help all of us apparently never heard of the iCloud for Windows add in....that aided in their confusion....

I'm starting to think that this issue is being caused by an update to Office/Outlook. I went back to see what updates have happened on my PC around the time I started getting this same issue and there were 4 updates for Office 2007 on June 15th (KB2596787, KB963673, KB963671, and KB3118304) There looks to have been about 20 or more updates to outlook on 6/24/2017. Any one of those could have broken iCloud. I have not had time to look about rolling back those updates to see if my iCloud would start working again but will be talking to my network guy at work about it tomorrow.

As far as a password for the two step authentication in calendars, I did see in Outlook 2007 under File/Data File Management under Archive Folders or Personal folders there is an option in Settings that lets you change the password. If I try and get to settings under iCloud I get an unknown error x800blah,blah, blaha.... Maybe that is where the app specific password would go if it was working. I just hope we find an answer to this so I can have my calendars back on my PC. Much easier to manage data in them there than on my phone.

Hi Cenova....

I have determined that those who are here replying trying to help have no idea what the issues we are having. They all think we are using "web" Outlook app.....when in fact we are using hundred dollar software (or bundled) Microsoft Office Outlook....and Apple's iCloud for Windows add-in software. I had to literally link a person who thought I was crazy that MS would actually have a software version of Outlook you installed on a PC. LOL....funny, I have been using Outlook on PC's more than likely while these people trying to help were in elementary school. I did figure some things out....the app specific passwords everyone seems to be on a high about is just for that....apps. LIke the web app of Outlook...which we are not using....apparently one of two things happened....Icloud released an update (version 6) that killed support for Outlook 2003, 2007, and possibly 2010...but the issue appeared after a June update from Windows....not sure where the issue lies. However, I did find out thru Apples pages that Outlook 2010 personal edition is NOT supported using iCloud for Windows version 6 and the latest edition of iTunes...which MUST be installed. Fortunately I was able to get a full OFFICE 2016 bundle from work for $10....and outlook 2016 with icloud works just fine.

How did you get the dll file to active for the Outlook sync with iCloud mail, etc?

In order words, I know this is part of my problem here but cannot find out how to get the Addin for Outlook to appear in Outlook2016>File>Option>Addins>

it is not there in any status. I have uninstalled, reinstalled iCloud for Window 3 times. I finally got it to move or download any these related records and I have access to mail, contacts, calendar, etc BUT nothing is syncing. I have been through 7 or 8 app specific passwords and with one yesterday I got the iCloud in the re-install to ask for this password and accept. BUT, the sync process is not here. The 'Add-in' (iCloud for Windows) that would cause to show a TAB in MS desktop Outlook names 'ICloud' the tab should contain a 'refresh' and also an 'add to calendar' button and a 'notification' when the iCloud is reminding you of a calendar event created from your iPhone or iPad.

So I am searching steps to get this az*.dll to run and connect as an the Outlook addins.

All this said, can you tell me what you did once you found this file?

Thank You, BWWigg

Chetly - did the different version of Outlook work? I am trying to fix this issue for my boss. Windows 10 updated and now Outlook 2010 is not playing well with the latest update of iCloud. If it was me I would just wait for another update. But his icloud/outlook calendar syncing is very important for his schedule. Anyway- already tried uninstalling icloud and reinstalling which didnt work. I tried some crazy other stuff from the internet that had me in the Register Editor of his computer put that didnt work either (and actually made things worse). I hate to uninstall his current version of Office 2010 and install a new version (which I have available) if it doesn't work!

am laughing - have exactly the same situation, went to the local apple store and was told to "Call Microsoft"! I yelled B*S* and told them that i have been working tech support in the valley for 30 years and that is not how you troubleshoot YOUR OWN SOFTWARE. Manager called me and tried to get me to come back in so they could help - on my second trip, the "Genius" i was to meet with didn't show up. I will try upgrading to new version of Office - thanks, happened around end of june and I've tried a lot of things since then!
