USB-C to Lighting doesn't fit MacBook charger

I bought a USB-C to lightning cable from Amazon to charge my iPad Pro 10.5" since it supports fast charging.

When I try plugging the USB-C side to the MacBook charger OR the 2016 MacBook Pro charger, it doesn't quite fit and won't charge the iPad. But it *does* fit the port *on* the MacBook Pro and does charge the iPad.

question: is there some sort of key or difference in the MB and MBP charger's ports that requires a special USB-C to lightning cord?

MacBook Pro TouchBar and Touch ID, macOS Sierra (10.12.5), 15" 2.6GHz

No, USB-C is USB-C, whatever it is on, take the cable back.

So, the cable fits after all. I had to wiggle it back and forth and apply pressure to make it fit the MB and MBP chargers. They're tighter fits than the port on the laptops. Strange, but it works. Thanks for the responses
