Magic Move text boxes don't always work.

Keynote users: are you also seeing situations where Magic Move—Keynote version 7.2 (4582) but also past versions— doesn't work for some text boxes?

I'll create a brand new presentation, make 5 text boxes, go through the standard process of duplicating the slide, moving the text boxes around, but during play, some of the text boxes simply disappear. Some slide to their new position, but others just disappear.

I've tried using standard fonts (defaults to Gils San), etc. The issue comes and goes. I can't see a pattern. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.

Again, this is only with text boxes. images of those text boxes work fine, as do all images.

try the following:

start a new presentation
add the text to the slide
duplicate the slide and reposition the text box on slide 2
add Magic move to the first slide
if that works, delete the slides in the original presentation and add the two slides created in the new presentation

I think I just figured out my own issue: this problem seems to arise only when using keynote presentations that were originally created in Keynote '09. Even basic files will have problems. The solution seems to be to start completely from scratch, and not port over any text boxes from the '09 file. I've tried adding new text files, but they still create issues. There seems to be some underlying code change to the slides themselves. Anyway, this has solved the issue for me, and I hope this helps someone else down the line.

(ps: I just recently started switching over from '09 to version 7.x, and have over 150 presentation files. This is probably why I'm just discovering this problem now).

There are many differences between Keynote version 5 and version 7, they are in fact completely different applications and therefore some changes must be expected when playing a presentation.

When using presentations created in 5, all I need to do is make minor adjustments in 7, (mostly tweaking an effect) to get the presentation to play the way I want. It does require additional time to do this, but I'v never had to create a presentation from the beginning again.

I wasn't clear, apologies. Old keynotes play fine in the new version. The only issue I'm having is with the transition called Magic Move, and even there, only with some text boxes: some of them disappear in the second slide.

I've used Magic Move for years, it's one of my favorite transitions. So this disappearing text box thing is new for me.
