Yes, I tried. The apple logo appears for a minute or two and than the screen is black again.

It’s your private property, so you can sell anything you own. Just be honest with how you advertise its condition when doing so. People sell non-working electronics for parts all the time.
You can list it on Swappa in what they call the "Boneyard". It is for broken phones that are sold for parts only.
Have you tried resetting it? Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until something happens. Hold for up to 30 seconds. If an Apple logo (or anything else) appears, let go.
