Can no longer use icloud email on android. Says incorrect user name and password. But they are correct and can log on on a pc. Tried manual set up with Imap address etc. Help

No fix required it works perfectly well, took me about 3 minutes and I have at least 16 devices involved.

Apple now requires you to use two-factor authentication (two-step verification where two-factor authentication is not available) and create an app specific password for 3rd party applications that access your iCloud account with the use of a password, you can initiate the two-factor authentication (two-step verification) set up and create app specific passwords at My Apple ID

Two-factor authentication is currently available to iCloud users (in most locations) with at least one device that's using iOS 9 or OS X El Capitan or later. If you can’t meet the criteria for two-factor authentication you can set up two-step verification which only requires a device registered with ‘Find my phone' or a phone number able to receive SMS messages.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

OK, had to turn OFF "Two-factor authentication", and then reactivate it before the "Generate-password" option would appear.. golly, not very intuitive. Instructions need to include where it should appear, and IF it doesn't appear as an option, how to remedy that situation..

This, your first entry, implied you wanted to sign out, which doesn't really make sense. What are you having trouble with?

Worked. The problem was a tick box on the set up said require sign in and as it was selected already I left it. When I removed this sign on tick it all started to download. Hope this helps others as nothing was wrong with everything else I tried over and over again.

Apple ID -Two-factor authentication

Check that you are using the correct server settings as detailed here:

iCloud: Mail Server settings

Then enter your app-specific password instead of your normal iCloud password.

There is NO place in My Apple ID (or 2-factor authentication) to add "gmail.com" - there is NO app-specific section, paragraph or link..

I am so sick of this. The comment about where to go to fix this is too vague. I've been unable to fix the issue for two weeks.

Did everything, two step veri, got app specific password and entered in on my android mail set up but won't work. Tried twice. Apple trying to make iCloud mail exclusive to mac users is my thought!

Try deleting the account and then add it back using the app specific password.
