Why am I only receiving half my SMS texts?

Over the past 3 months I've only been receiving about half of the SMS text messages that have been sent to me, especially in a group text with other non-iPhone users. I cannot receive picture in SMS texts more than half the time, either. Using an iPhone 7 Plus 128gb with 80gb free. This on ATT LTE network.

There have been rumors of this being an issue. What can I do to fix this without having to get a new phone? Or is that the only option? Any help appreciated!!

I do receive SMS texts from time to time, so it's a completely random whether I receive them or not.

The iPhone has no settings for SMS/MMS that are adjustable on the iPhone. Messages from non-iOS phones are SMS/MMS, which are controlled by the carrier. Contact your carrier and make sure that you have an SMS/MMS plan on your account.

Then again, you need to check with your carrier. The iPhone does not have any settings for SMS. MMS, or message with media content such as photos, etc., require that you have cellular data turned on. The carrier controls SMS/MMS, that is a carrier feature. Only they could troubleshoot the issue.
