no voice with maps in car play

When using maps with Apple Carplay there is no sound. There is sound if I just use Bluetooth. It use to work. Apple carplay is not on mute and maps is set for loud. The music volume decreases when the voice should be talking, but there is no voice.

Nevermind, I solved it and is possibly the other persons problem. When maps is on and the volume lowers on the radio to do the audiable (or inaudiable in this case), turn the volume up and it will raise the voice volume. You have to be quick or you will raise the radio's volume too. Just do it while the radio's volume gets quieter and you will get it.

I am having the same problem. Tried all of your solution. 2017 Silverado. 2000 miles on it so the truck is new. IPhone 6s. With needed updates. Just did them yesterday so it is updated. New cable. Wasted money on it because it was not the issue. Restarted and re-restarted several times so now wasted hours of my life. Maps is shown on my radio display but when the spoken turn by turn is done, the radio reduces its volume but the turn by turn is just a whisper. It doesn't even seem to be coming from the vehicles speakers. How do I get the map navigation to sound at a volume a human can hear?

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.

  1. Make sure that Siri is turned on.
  2. Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
  3. If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
  4. Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure that the cable is certified.
  5. Update to the latest version of iOS.
  6. Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.
