Apple Power Macintosh G5 2.5 DP No video

I have a Powermac G5 that has mysteriously stopped working about a month ago now

When powering on, i can hear the chime happen, then a Red light appears on the Logic Board

I have currently tried and SMC, PRAM, SMU reset

i have currently taken out all Ram, and put in 2x256mb sticks in slots 1 as well as 2

i have taken the graphics card out and reseated it back in

i have tried two different displays, with different cables, HDMI to DVI, and DVI to DVI

i have attempted to switch out the hard drives

I have replaced the PRAM battery with a newer battery

It doesn't seem to pick up my mouse and keyboard anymore on any USB ports

I think i might have a dead logic board, but why would i hear the POST chime?

Thanks!

I looked around briefly to get a definition of what is done in POST.

Mac 101: What's happening when your Mac is starting up?

Seems having a light on is an indication of a problem.

SOLVED: What do the G5's LEDs (late 2005 quad 2.5 GHz) indicate? - Power Mac G5 - iFixit

[ I think this is your machine. Each processor chip had two processors on it. 2x2 This is the only 2.5ghz machine I can find in mactracker app. ]

Follow the link to find out the meaning of the light.

There were a lot of problems with capacitors from this time period. Don't know if some models of the G5 were hit harder than others.

iMac G5 has these hardware issues:

-- bad capacitors on logic board

-- bad capacitors in power supply

-- badly soldered video chip

-- "There were several Mac models with flat panel displays that had bad displays.

Most had serial numbers beginning with "W8"---the code for one specific factory.

This affected PowerBooks as well. If that's the case, the rest of the computer

is probably fine." by Allan Jones in

Wow...

I cannot believe I did not think of that. I tried all this other stuff, but did not think of that one.

I will give it a shot, I was having issues with the keyboard and the mouse not being recognized. I tried all the other USB ports and still could not get it to recognize anything.

I will for sure try it once I am near the machine.

So I tried safe mode, didn't work, giving me the exact same result, no video at all.

As far as the model goes, the LED reference you gave me was for the quad-core model, not the dual processor model, the one I have is June 2004 model, a1047. So the LED indicators are different.

And as far as the capacitors go, I noticed you put the link down for the iMac G5 model, does it work the same for the Powermac G5 models?

Thanks for all your help!

Austin.
