How do I unpair my apple 2 watch without the phone

I purchased an IPhone 7plus and I was not told to unpair my apple 2 watch before I reset my old Apple 6S plus. Now I can't get my watch to reset or pair with my iPhone 7. Help! I've looked on line but all I can find is how to unpair before you reset your old phone. 😟

I have tried this but I just get a message saying the device is locked and I need to unlock the iPhone however I no longer have the iPhone?

Follow these steps to erase your locked Apple Watch and pair it again:

  • Connect your watch to its charging cable, connected to power.
  • Whilst keeping your Apple Watch on the charger:
    • Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider.
    • Press firmly on Power Off (do not try to slide it - just press down more firmly than a normal tap) and then tap on Erase all content and settings.
  • Pair your watch using the Watch app on your iPhone, choosing to Restore from Backup if offered the option.
