icloud outlook sync problem MAPI aplzod.dll

Hi,

I have a PC running Windows 7, Outlook 2007, itunes & icloud installed with an Iphone 7 and Ive been able to sync my contacts and calendar no problem at all until a few days ago I now get this error when I click on the icloud folder in Outlook or the icloud calendar in Outlook

The set of folders cannot be opened, an unexpected error has occurred

MAPI was unable to load the information service c:\progra ̃2\common ̃1\apple\intern ̃1\aplzod.dll. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured"

in program files (x86) theres an aplzod32.dll but no aplzod.dll

in program files theres an aplzod6432.dll but no aplzod.dll

I have tried

turning off outlook sync then re enabling outlook sync in icloud settings

repairing icloud,

uninstalling and reinstalling icloud

deleting icloud data file from outlook then re enabling outlook sync in icloud settings

but nothing has changed

Could it be related to the iphone is set to sync over wifi? Even though that setting hasnt changed

Any idea?

Thanks

iPhone 7, iOS 10.3.2

Good afternoon driftysmiffy,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

As of June 15, 2017 - in order for apps like Microsoft Outlook to access iCloud data, you must now enable two-factor authentication for your Apple ID and generate an app-specific password for Outlook. If you already have two-factor authentication enabled, learn how to set up the app-specific password below.

Using app-specific passwords

Take care.

I think its a windows 10 update. Same problem, did a windows system restore, everything was fine. But, next time I rebooted, windows automatically updated and Shabang! back to the problem...reinstalling icloud app from apple for PC does not work....windows 10 native calendar also does not work. Stuck using icloud calendar on the web so everything syncs up. A real pain!

My guess would be to look under different "version numbers" in the registry key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Security\) eg try replacing 12.0 with 16.0 or 13.0 or 14.0 or 15.0 etc, and see if the Security key exists in any of them.

I doubt that anything disastrous will happen if you create a key in the wrong spot (probably just sit there uselessly - or you can delete it again if something unexpected does happen)

I don't know what to do with the password. Icloud already has a password and that password is entered in Outlook. However I generated a new app specific password and entered that into the Outlook email account. Now I can receive email from my icloud address but still cannot see my contacts. I have Outlook 2007 and Windows 7. I don't see anywhere to put a password for Outlook contacts.

If you're not familiar with using the registry editor, then maybe you should leave it well alone - but then again, everyone has to start somewhere!

So:

1. Select "Run" from the start menu, and enter "regedit" and hit Enter

2. Agree to let it modify your system settings (or whatever the message is)

3. Open the link at slipstick.com I referenced in my post above

4. In the Registry Editor, browse to the folder highlighted in red in the screen shot at slipstick.com (noting that depending on your Outlook version, you might have to try folders with a number other than "12.0")

5. Right-click on the right hand pane of Registry Editor and select "New", then "DWORD" to create a new double word registry key

6. Rename the new registry key as per the example at slipstick.com

7. Then right click on the new key and select "Modify" and change its value to 1

8. Close Registry Editor and re-start Outlook (I can't remember whether I had to reboot as well - probably not)

I had the same problem. I don't know where I saw it, but an internet posting noted that Microsoft was about to stop supporting Outlook 2007 on windows 10, which I had, an would not support iCloud with Office 2007. So I upgraded to Office 2016, and iCloud installed as it should. Maybe you could use the registry key approach, but I did not try it.
