(iPhone 7+) Hi, a few days ago my iphone ran out of charge (as expected), i put it back on charge and it hasn't been on sinse. I have tried everything; holding down the lock button and the vol down button, using different chargers, different plug sockets etc. I don't think i have ever backed it up (something I will start doing every few weeks) but didnt think i needed to as its was only purchased in November. Is there any way to back it up on my macbook? I have an appointment at an apple store tomorrow, i was advised to back it up. Is there anything i can do to recover my 3,000 photos?
Thanks,
Kane..
Honestly, it doesn't matter whether you bought it yesterday, or 2 years ago, or whenever. Any and every electronic device can fail, for any of a thousand reasons. Anything that uses electronic storage - be it a hard drive, or a solid state drive - if the contents are of any value to you, they need to be backed up. This goes for laptops and computers, smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices. Any and every single one can or may fail, and without a backup, you will loose data at some point. For data that matters to you, backups need to be considered essential, not optional, as well as regularly updated, not randomly or periodically.
If your device will not power on at all, there is nothing you can do to back it up now. By any chance, had you enabled iCloud backups in your iCloud account settings? iCloud backups occur automatically, once every 24 hours, when the device is plugged in, connected to wifi, and the screen is in sleep mode.
You can check your iCloud storage for a backup file in a web browser at www.icloud.com
