Apple watch displaying chinese characters instead of english

I have a new Apple Watch series 2 and some of my apps display a combination of chinese and english text. I can't figure out how to get rid of the chinese characters. I set it up as english as my language. It is in quite a few apps that are doing this. Help?

Hi

The following steps may help:

On your iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Language & Region:

Check that iPhone Language is set to English.
Tap Edit (upper-right) > move English to the top of the "Preferred Language Order" list > tap Done.
