With the update that just came out in June of 2017 I can no longer sync my iCloud email on my Samsung Galaxy phone. When is this expected to be fixed. I have followed all the instructions for the SSL Port 993. No luck.

I don't understand what happened but just within the last few days I can no longer sync my iCloud email to my Android device. It's very frustrating. I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and for years I've been able to get my iCloud email. Now it doesn't work anymore with the new update that came out in June 2017. I've even called Apple support and the guy they're just basically gave me what's in the knowledge base and it doesn't work. The technician tried even calling Samsung for me to ask what's going on and they threw them around four or five times the different support Personnel until they told him that they were closed for the evening. What is going on such that we cannot get our iCloud email on other devices?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

On 6/15/17, Apple introduced new security measures for using 3rd party apps or devices that access your iCloud account.

In order to get those apps or devices signed back in so that they can access iCloud, you need to use an App-specific password to sign them in.

The only way to get an App-specific password is to set up either Two-Factor Authentication or Two-Step Verification on your Apple account.

If you have an iOS device running iOS 9 or later, or a Mac running Yosemite or later, you can set up Two-Factor Authentication. If you do not have either of those, then you can set up Two-Step Verification.

Here is the Two-Factor Verification link, and within that link is a separate link if you need to set up Two-Step Verification:

Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support

Once you get either 2FA or Two-Step set up for your Apple account, you can then generate an App-specific password that you would then use to sign in with instead of your regular Apple ID password:

Best of luck,

You do not need an Apple device to generate App-specific passwords (which is what you are ultimately after here).

If you cannot set up Two-Factor Authentication, you can set up Two-Step Verification as noted in the Two-Factor Authentication Support Document: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support

If your account isn't eligible for two-factor authentication, you can still use two-step verification to protect your information.

It's kind of buried in there under the Mac part, I think. Anyway, click on the link above to set up Two-Step, which will also allow you to set up App-Specific-Passwords.

The Phone number that you use simply has to be SMS-enabled.

The linked support article explains Two-Step, and within it is a link that you must use in order to set this up on your Apple ID. Other links will not work.

Best of luck,

This totally *****. Why would apple do this other than to make us purchase more apple devices. I for one, am very happy with my Samsung device and DO NOT want to purchase another I-device. The timing as to when my phone stopped being aple to sync is the same as others, and I to have spent countless hours trying to rectify. Boo to Apple for this :-(
