Sorry if this is a common question. I am trying to connect an external midi keyboard to GarageBand on my iPad Air. Using a midi cable and the Apple brand midi to lightening adapter, GB recognizes my keyboard (Roland A-500S) but says it's not supported. What low cost 2 octave keyboards are supported? Thanks
Found the answer but not happy. I took my iPad over to Guitar Center and we just kept plugging in keyboards until one worked. Most of the 2 octave keyboards connected successfully but received an error message "Not enough power". Unfortunately none of the current offerings have battery or external power options. Anyway, we finally got one to work using the Apple Lightening to USB connector. Akai LPK25 is the only one that worked with GarageBand.

You mean lightning to usb adapter? Does your keyboard have an external power supply? Sometimes there is not enough power over the USB bus only. And/or try to connect the keyboard via MIDI-cable and an interface to the iPad (instead of direct with usb)
