what is my phone number when I am in Scotland?

My wife and I are traveling to Scotland soon. What prefix will be necessary to contact me when I am in Scotland? I know that my phone number will remain the same. What is the prefix that my friends/relatives must use to contact me while in Scotland? Thank you for your help.

None. Your friends and relatives at home should continue to use the same number they have to contact you unless your carrier has some other way of contacting phones outside their service area.

Generally the carrier should route any calls to your number as locally dialed to your device regardless of where you are.

Look into international roaming plans before you go; without one it can be outrageously expensive, especially for data. With one only annoyingly expensive.

Your phone number will not change, and won't need any special codes. Someone from outside of the US will need to prefix your number with an international dialing code and the US country code, which is 1. The number would be written as +1.555.555.5555. Cell systems will expand the "+" to whatever the local dialing code is.
