Trackpad wear and tear?

My macbook is in use almost 40-50% of the day. I work the most with Illustrator, Logic, Garageband, Word, Safari, iChat, iTunes.. I really go to town with this laptop.

I'm starting to notice some wear in the center of my trackpad, it's a whole lot shinier than it used to be.. and it's got a lot more traction (not as smooth anymore) than the edges.

Do your guys' trackpads look/feel worn? Is this normal? I've had my macbook for about 6 or 7 months now.

Thanks very much

Yes it is normal. I have seen lots of used laptops and the trackpads always get shiney. I put a Post-It Note on my trackpad. this keeps it from wearing and feels much better to me than the plastic trackpad. It is of course easily replaceable when it gets dirty or damaged. I've been doing this on every Mac laptop with a trackpad that I've owned and swear by it.
