yes your phone has things stored on it such as apps which use a lot of memory depending on the app. Also Facebook and messenger use a ton of memory because they don't clear their cashe. If you delete Facebook and messenger you will clear up memory restart your phone and reinstall. The point of having cloud storage is to put all my pictures in the cloud yet it doesn't do that also the mail says it is using 1.8 gig but I have nothing on my phone. About ready to cancel both mine and my wife's iCloud and go to google.

well you may think I am wrong but if you delete facebook and reinstall you will gain memory as the cashe does not clear as you stated it only shows 30MB but in fact there is hidden cashe I learned this at Apple. Also my mail is stored in the cloud but it doesn't leave my phone even when deleted which is problematic because it shows using 1.3 gigs of data when nothing is on the phone while I am sure you are an Apple expert none of the people Apple pays to be experts has been able to solve this problem. as for my Pictures they are set to auto store in the cloud but they do not I have to force it again as I said I realize you are an Apple expert but if you know how to do this please tell the people at Apple because they haven't figured it out over the last 6 months and 5 trips to the store.
