I have Iphone 5 which wont sync with my PC or Itunes but similar Iphone 5S syncs? Any ideas of what might be wrong with Iphone 5 settings?

I have Iphone 5 which won't sync with my PC or Itunes but similar iPhone 5S syncs? Any ideas of what might be wrong with iPhone 5 settings? I am using same computer software and connections So I assume there is a settings problem. The phone did sync a few months ago I use this phone primarily as a music player syncing with Apple Music in the cloud.

Thanks

Don

Hi there, dgoto!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues syncing your device to iTunes. Although you don't mention an error being seen, check out this article with steps to follow If you see an error in iTunes on your Mac or PC .

If you can't sync your iOS device or transfer your content

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, then try to sync using a USB cable or over Wi-Fi again. If you can't sync, check your USB or Wi-Fi connection.

For USB:

  1. Connect your iOS device to your computer using the cable that came with your device.
  2. Keep only your iOS device, keyboard, and mouse connected to your computer. Disconnect any other USB devices.
  3. In iTunes, look for your device's icon. If you see the icon, check your connections. If you don't see the icon, try these steps to connect.

For Wi-Fi:

  1. Try to sync with USB instead of Wi-Fi. Learn how to connect to Wi-Fi with your iOS device, Mac, or PC.
  2. Make sure that all of your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

If your computer is not seeing your iPhone when you have it connected, check out this article with steps to follow If iTunes doesn‘t recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod .

You haven't given enough information. Mac or PC? Version? Version of iOS? All of this factors in. For clarification, are you unable to sync music with that older iPhone, or is it not seen by iTunes at all? If it's the former, that's expected behavior with Apple music and iCloud music library. If it's the latter, then use the not recognized by iTunes article linked above if you have a Mac, or if you have a PC, then you could try this:

I have tried all of that. A few months ago I was able to reset the Iphone 5 and use it as just as a cloud player no problem. My point is all being the same my 5S works fine but the IPhone 5 doesn't So I was wondering if there might be a setting which prevents the phone from communicating with Itunes or the computer. Again 5S works fine., 5 doesn't

Thanks Again

Sorry for delayed response, I have a Windows 10 PC with the latest Itunes. I can sync my Iphone 5s but not Iphone 5. I I did a refresh of the Iphone 5 maybe 6 months ago and now using it only for a Itunes cloud player. I recently connected to PC and nothing showed in ITunes or with the file browser. It is not even being recognized by the computer? Is there possible a setting on the Iphone that might cause this issue?

Thanks

That seems like a last resort. Because I am not even seeing the Iphone 5 in the device driver when I connect it to my Windows computer which tells me it isn't talking to my computer and that I think beyond any issues with Itunes?

Is there any files or settings on the Ipohne which could prevent I phone from communicating with my PC

Thanks

What confuses me is the 5S using same cable and PC works fine but 5 fails to be recognized by PC or Itunes? Since I have I tunes working real well I really don't want to do anything to mess it up like uninstalling it The Iphone 5 is only be used as a Itunes Cloud player and works fine, But it isn't able to be seen. So all things being considered I thought maybe there was a setting on the 5 which prevents it from connecting.?
