My USB drives aren't working after Sierra 10.12.5 update. I read that I can do a SMC reset, but when I hold down the three keys and then press the power button, the computer just turns on. Am I missing something here?
Any other methods of making the USB work - Apple doesn't seem to be providing a solution.

Thx. Finally got it. A source had the wrong keys highlighted. I managed to get it to recognized an old iPod but it's still not recognizing my iPhone. Tried 3 different cords and both ports. Frustrating.
It must be exactly the keys in the lower left corner, next to the fn key. The ones on the right side will not do it.
And by recognize I mean it charges. Still doesn't appear in iexplorer or iTunes
Thanks. Neither SMC or Pram reset worked. Any other magic bullet? I don't have the energy to deal with an Apple Store.
SMC reset just restarts computer!
