Internal mic not working MBPR 15 early 2013

User uploaded fileHi

My internal mic isnt working (MBP retina 15inch early 2013)

I dont know when my mac internal mic stopped working but i have tried soundflower a few months ago and now Ive just upgraded to Sierra.

Ive made sure there is no sunflower left on my system, and rebooted a few times.

I only have internal mic listed as device for sound input.

I get zero feedback response in the sound input level no matter how much noise i make.

I dont have two mic holes on the left hand side of my Macbook so i assume they are in the left hand speaker grill.

Maybe there is a mic on /off switch (software) somewhere?

Heres the system info for audio

Hello Simon,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems you are experiencing issues with the internal microphone on your MacBook Pro. You can figure out if unexpected behavior is related to a user file or setting by trying to reproduce the issue from another user account. This process includes creating a new user account, logging in to it, and testing for the issue.

Next, reset the NVRAM on your MacBook Pro as that can solve audio problems like the microphone issue you're experiencing.

Thanks for that update, MrEco and that's very good to know. Another option would be to go to your local Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to help resolve this issue with your MacBook Pro, so they can get hands-on! Also, make sure to make a backup before any further troubleshooting.

Thanks for the reply.

I have already tried a new profile, that didnt help

I tried NVRAM also, but when it booted up after holding the keys on boot, obviously it all looked a bit weird, and i didnt do anything else but just restarted it. Should i have done anything in that mode?

If what i did was right, it didnt help.

Thanks for replying, i appreciate the advise and am aware of that option, but the store is about an hour away, and would probably charge me £100 to £200 to possibly fix it, plus be without my business macbook for a period of time. So that option is a last resort. I presently feel that there must be another option.

Do we know for a fact, if advanced hardware test, tests the mic and reports any error with it if it is a hardware error?
