different default email for safari

When you click a link for an email address or website, your Mac opens the app you've set for that kind of link.

Mail is the default email app and Safari is the default web browser on your Mac. If you install other email apps or web browsers, you might want to set them to open when you click an email link or web link.

How to set a default email app

1. Open the Mail app.
2. If you haven't already set up an email account in Mail preferences or Internet preferences, follow the onscreen instructions to set one up now.
3. From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
4. Click General.
5. Choose your email app from the ”Default email reader” pop-up menu.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

About the best you can do is Mail/Preferences/Composing/Send new messages from and set that to Gmail. When you want to use your other account in a new message, you can change that in the From box. There is currently no way to set a browser specific e-mail address.
