2016 vs 2017 Macbook Pro

Hey guys,

As of right now, I am debating on rather purchasing a refurbished 2016 MacBook pro or a 2017 base model (13 inch Macbook Pro (with Kaby Lake). Is there really that much of a difference having kaby lake or not really?

For the refurbished 2016 Macbook Pro, I would be getting:

Touch Bar with integrated Touch ID sensor

13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display; 2560-by-1600 native resolution at 227 pixels per inch

8GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory

512GB PCIe-based onboard SSD (final price 1800)

VS

the base 13 inch model with an i5 processor, etc. (starting at 1799)

---

I'm mainly going to be using this laptop for school and some light programming (Python, etc.)

So, with this being said, which laptop do you guys think I should go for? An upgraded 2016 model or a base 2017 model?

Thanks in advance.

Buy the refurbished if the facilities are much better v the basic model. Assuming it is the Apple refurbished item, it will carry the same warranty as a new machine and be open for Apple Care plus in the countries where that is available. These items are often returns by people who simply cannot get to grips with computers. There is nothing wrong with them and they are rigorously inspected for faults.
