Panasonic GH5 timecode - how to read?

Shooting with GH5. Using timecode set to 'time of day'. Need this to do rough synch with a dozen other data recorders, all working on the clock, all with (time of day) timecode.

How can I SEE the GH5 'timecode' or 'date-time' in FCPX? I've checked through all the various metadata choices in the Inspector, and I'm not finding it.

Any suggestions? All ears ...

Hi Tom,

In any of the Inspector / metadata choices I can't see any time-date stamp information, other than the time/date when I captured the media into FCPX. I captured the media using 'archive' first, then I copied the media FROM the archive file, simultaneously making proxies.

The GH5 lets me set their modest form of 'timecode' active, though there is nothing about timecode in their manuals (as far as I can find with searches). And one of the choices with 'timecode' is just 'time/date', which is enough for me -- just some guide so when I go looking for the mirror scenes in the various data recorders (6-10 of them), I can quickly find the moments that sync with the live-footage.

I've been searching generally on the net ... and not found anything yet.

I'm not sure what 'time ITV day' is? In the Viewer there is just the timeline timecode (footage count). Or if I click it I get the length of the clip. No where do I see a time/date.

Sorry about the breaks here, I'm shooting in a lab doing some pretty wild experiments and I have to run into the control room every time they fire up what they've built -- a miniature working sun. Pretty cool stuff. Or 'hot' actually.

In the camera when I'm recording I see a regular timecode ...

But I can't find 'that' timecode anywhere in the clip once it's in FCPX.

When I first turn on the camera I can see today's date and time for a few moments in the camera viewer; then it switches to the regular timecode.

My assumption is that the camera is somehow recording this timecode and/or the time-date somewhere in the metadata, but I can't find either timecode or date in the metadata via FCPX. That's my dilemma.

Aha! I should have done this first. If I add the 'timecode' 'effect' to the clip, then I can SEE the timecode displayed ON the clip itself. And, I notice, the timecode is being recorded even if I don't click it on in the camera menu (curiously enough).

I still need to see the date/time ... haven't found THAT yet. But it's there somewhere, in the metadata of the clip, I'm pretty sure. I wonder if there is an 'effect' to drop in to get the date/time?

Yes! I see that. You're right. Now how do I find out which day?

We're going to be shooting a lot all July and early August. I can make keyword collections of the specific days. But it would be soooo nice if I could just see the time/date IN the particular clip metadata. Then I wouldn't have to strain so hard to keep track of all this footage.
