notification sidebar
Hi All,
Does anybody know how to turn off the gray notification sidebar that comes out every time you move your trackpad all the way to the right of the screen? It's very annoying.
Cheers,

Hello Luis,
I suppose I could have said, change the alert to 'None' for those areas where you usually work.
I did not find a preferences other than the way the options were presented, tell us what you found when you get back to your machine.

I think we are talking about different things here.
If we change from "alert" to "none" this alters the ability of a given app or service to generate notifications.
The OP was asking how to stop the whole notification "sidebar" from appearing. This appears regardless of there being any actual notifications.
This notification side bar can be opened by clicking the Notifications icon at the top right:
But for the OP, just moving the cursor to the right of the screen appears to make the notification sidebar to slide in.
I can only make it appear by clicking the icon above.
Does it appear regardless of where in the right you move your cursor?
If it appears only when you move your cursor to the top right, or only to the bottom right, then this is a "Hot Corner", and you can change its behavior in one of a few System Preferences panes - for example, in Mission Control, or Desktop & Screen Saver:
If Notification Center appears in one or more of the hot corners, just click and change that some other option, including "None".
I am not at my mac right now but I am sure there is a preference setting for this. For sure notifications do NOT show up for me just by moving the cursor to the extreme right in the trackpad.
Another thing: you do NOT have to turn all notifications off.

You need to go to Systems prefs > Notifications >and in the panel from Calendar downwards take each option at a time and make the alert for that option ... 'None'
Guess we'll have to wait for the OP to Clarify. Thanks for your thoughts.
Try going to System Preferences/Trackpad/More Gestures and uncheck Notification Center.
