27 inch monitor always shows as 21.5-inch in About this Mac/Overview/Displays
Samsung says 21.5 is a Mac error. Is there a way in the Mac to change or block the wrong screen size data that shows up in "About this Mac/Overview/Displays"? Is there a way to change 21.5 to 27?

Pardon the typo. Samsung should be LG. I have read several cases of this type of error on some Samsung screens, but no solutions.

All of the monitors I have show the correct diagonal screen size, except this LP. I don't know if this error even causes a problem.
I wouldn't think that it would create a problem; it does show correctly with the model number (the 27 should be the screen size) as the screen size really doesn't have anything to do with the workings of the OS. (unless there is some disparity with custom settings, etc). I'd probably ignore that for now and make myself a note to address it if/when I have to talk to Apple/Genius Bar for another issue and add it on at that time.
This is a Samsung monitor? What is the exact model number?
And what exactly is displayed in System Preferences > Displays? On mine, it shows the exact Dell model number.
I've chosen the low road and have given it back to LG.
Not a bad idea - what brand are you considering now? I just got a Dell U2415 (smaller screen as that was what I was looking for) and the color reproduction is not bad at all.
