My MacBook Pro 15-inch is not charging properly
Hello,
The system that is having problems is a MacBook Pro 15-inch Retina late 2013. 2ghz i7, 4795HQ I think, 16GB ram, Intel iris Pro.
Whenever my macbook is charging it randomly stops charging mostly under load but not with a consistent pattern. At first I thought the charger was the problem but I have received a replacement and this, sadly, makes no difference. Also I have tried resetting the SMC, also with no result.
In the last hour I have found somewhat of a consistent pattern but I don't really understand what it means or how it could be fixed. I have been running the Geekbench 4 CPU benchmark and the charger stops working on 1 particular test consistently, here is the data of what I have found:
| Test | Time running | What's testing | Adapter Temperature (1-10) | Battery State |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | X | AES | X | Charging |
| 2 | X | AES | 8 | Charging |
| 3 | 1:14 | AES | 6 | Charging |
| 4 | 1:13 | AES | 5 | Charging |
| 5 | didn't stop | 4 | Full (green) |
After I perform the benchmark I take the charger out of the power outlet for 10-60 seconds and it works again. At least until I run another test. As you can see it kept failing around the same time and on the same test whenever the battery was still charging. However I don't really know if this helps with anything, hopefully someone here can help!
