Safari won't open Google News

Safari (MacOS 10.11.6) just started acting strange when I attempt to launch News from the Google homepage. All other apps (YouTube, Mail, Calendar, etc) launch fine. When I click on News I get Not Found Error 404 and the URL displays as news.google.com/news/headlines?hl=en. If I delete the headlines?hl=en it works fine. I have cleared cache, flushed DNS and everything else I can think of. Minor problem but it shouldn't be doing this.

I tried this Carolyn. I have been a Mac user for over 25 years so this is why this problem was so odd. I couldn't figure it out. So I did remove all Website Data, cleared history, I used Clean My Mac to flush DNS, delete cache and cookies and used Washing Machine to remove cookies and clear cache. After a restart as well it worked for a while and then reverted. I just launched Safari and see that Google has done a redesign and the layout in Safari is now similar to that in Chrome. So maybe that was the problem. Seems OK now.
