airpods not showing proper battery percentage

On my iPhone when I open my AirPods and the panel comes up, it shows the battery percentage of my AirPods at 100% and my case at 65% even after using them for long periods of time, and this hasn't changed since I pulled them out of the box. Please help, thanks! P.S. I'm on iPhone 6 iOS 10.2

Hi, Erik.I11.

I see that the battery level of your AirPods shows on your iPhone, but it never seems to change even after you've used them for a bit. I'm happy to help.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Restart your iPhone. Once it's returned to the Home screen, test the issue.

Use your AirPods -- If restarting your phone didn't help, reset and set up your AirPods again.

If you can't set up your AirPods

If you don't see the setup animation when you try to set up your AirPods with your iPhone, follow these steps. After each step, try to set up your AirPods again.

  1. Make sure that your AirPods are charged.
  2. Close the lid, wait 15 seconds, then open the lid. The status light should flash white.
  3. If the status light doesn't flash white, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until you see the status light flash white.
  4. Still can't set up your AirPods? Press and hold the setup button for at least 15 seconds, until you see the status light flash amber a few times and then flash white.

Thank you for reporting back with that information, Eric.l11. We're glad to see that half of the issue has resolved. We have more for you to try as well.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- If you didn't have a chance to see if restarting your iPhone would help, restart your phone. Once it's returned to the Home screen, test the issue again.

Set up and use third-party Bluetooth accessories -- Unpair your AirPods, restart your iPhone again, then pair the AirPods once you're able.

Unpair a Bluetooth accessory

To unpair a Bluetooth accessory, tap Settings > Bluetooth, find the device you want to unpair, and tap User uploaded file , then Forget this Device.

When you Forget this Device on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, that accessory is removed from the list of available Bluetooth devices. To add the Bluetooth accessory to your device again, place it back in discovery mode and repeat the steps above to pair it again.

Again, thanks and let us know if that's helped when you're able.

Hey, Erik.I11.

We really appreciate your sticking with us through the troubleshooting. It's time to have your AirPods, the case and your iPhone evaluated.

Apple - Support - Product Selection -- Apple Support will be able to supply all of your service options.

Find Locations -- You can also locate the nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider if you'd rather. Make sure the country you're located in is showing on the top-right corner. If it isn't, click it and choose the correct one.

Get your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch ready for service -- Before you take or send your iPhone in, make sure it's ready for service.

Cheers!

Thank you again for the information. I tried disconnecting the Bluetooth and restarting my phone, and it worked for about 3 seconds, and then the case battery percent went back to 65%

Thank you for being helpful and giving me your time. This is why I love apple and everyone that works for them! :) any more tips are appreciated!

Thanks!
