Friends phone rings, goes to voicemail and call redirects to mine!

No idea how this happens: I'm hanging out with my friend, his phone rings but it goes to voicemail...but as that happens, the call gets redirected to my phone, seamlessly transferring the call. We have different area codes, different providers and completely separate accounts. This is troubling. Any help would be appreciated. This seems like a major security flaw.

iPhone 6, iOS 10.3.2

Somehow, your friend has enabled conditional call forwarding on their phone. It's also called "no answer/busy transfer. If someone calls their number and they don't answer or the line is already engaged, the call will go to another number.

With my carrier, you dial *73 to turn it off. Your friend should contact their carrier and find out the appropriate code.
