iCal imported calendar missing events

I just got a new Mac, and I'm trying to move my iCal calendars over to it. I've exported the .ics files on my old Mac, and re-imported them into the iCal install on the new machine. However, a lot of events are missing from the imported versions. For example, one of my calendars is a calendar of all my courses (I'm a college student); it has all classes from previous semesters, but not the past semester. Anyone have any ideas on how to get those events back?

Hi Adam,

Are all the events in the same calendar? Perhaps you have not imported the calendar for the events you can not see?

Is you old Mac on 10.4? If so your best bet for tranferring the data would be to choose 'Backup Database...' from iCal's FIle menu on your old machine, move the file to the new machine and select 'Revert to Database Backup...' in the new machine's iCal.

Best wishes

Hi,

My events are spread across 22 calendars, actually... (I was subscribed to a couple more remote calendars; I haven't re-subscribed yet though) I've triple-checked, though: I have in fact imported all of my calendars (and for my course-list calendar, the one where the most data is not being imported, all of my courses for all semesters are in the same calendar; but only some of them are getting imported.)

There was also at least one case of a recurring event that had ended some time ago, losing its "end" time and recurring forever.

As to 10.4, it's actually a bit more complicated... My old laptop was running 10.4; I kept my data backed up on my Dad's laptop, running 10.3. My old laptop's hard disk then failed and got replaced, so I restored from my Dad's laptop to my old laptop (via the Migration tool) and to my new laptop (via import/export). Now, both of my laptops exhibit the same data loss, even though it used to work fine on my old laptop with the same setup.

Does iCal have a bug with large .ics files, maybe?
