Does anyone know why iMovie won't let m use snapchat videos? Do they not count as videos? I'm trying to assemble clips an some happen to be ones I saved on Snapchat. Why won't it work!?
MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12.3)
1: Try to send the videos to yourself or one of your friends via WhatsApp.
2: Save the videos on your iPhone/Macbook in the WhatsApp app.
3: Drag those saved files from your MacBook to iMovie
4: Done!
I had the exact same problem but when you send those files via WhatsApp, it changes the structure of the file (or something like that). I don't know how and why, but it works!

Hi,
Do a Control-click/Get Info on one of the vids to see what codecs are used. You want Mp4/AAC or H.264/AAC.
If it is not that, covert a duplicate of your movie to Mp4 with the free download, Handbrake. Then see if your movies will work in iMovie.

What format are they in? Are they subject to copyright?
I'm not sure the format but some of them work, some don't. No copyright at all!
