Select the Track and use the Key Command ctr+opt+A "Show/Hide Inactive" and then ctr+click on the Inactive Alternative and choose "Delete Track Alternative" command.
Hope that helps

I think it makes sense the way it is. The Track Alternatives Menu only has a delete command that deletes all Inactive Track Alternatives "Delete Inactive". To delete a specific Inactive Track Alternative, you have to point at it, which you by right+clicking on it and select the command from the Shortcut Menu that applies only to that Track Alternative.
Thank you, Edgar! That does the trick...I was looking under the pop-up menu for the track alternatives. Presumably the Delete Track Alternative command should appear there as well, since "Rename" does; perhaps Apple will add it eventually. Meanwhile this does the job!
Thank you again.
Dear Edgar -
Thank you for reply. Yet I do see that other commands in the Track Alternatives menu do apply to the individual alternative (Duplicate, Rename) so I thought it would make sense to include Delete as well. Rename appears in both places, so might as well include Delete as well. If included, it could be clearly differentiated: "Delete Inactive" and "Delete Current".
But I'll get used to it however it is...at least it does have all the functionality.
One more function I cannot find is how to re-order the alternatives.
