How do I unpair my Apple TV remote? 4th ATV

I see articles here saying there is no unpair function in 4th APPLE TV.

I previously have 2 Apple TV remote attach to this Apple TV. As both broken glass, I just bought a new one. Now my new one can't pair with my Apple TV. I see articles saying atv can only pair with 2 remotes.

So what should I do?

My first remote is out of battery and it's not functioning.

My 2nd remote is still active with atv.

Thanks

Eric

The problem with adding onto an old existing thread is that more often than not the problem isn't the same as is the case here. The OP is trying to replace an Apple TV 4 remote with another one, your problem is that you already have remotes from the Apple TV 1,2 or 3 and aren't trying to replace anything. The instructions for the OP are correct for them but not for you, your instructions are:

  1. Take the unpaired silver remote (if the remote is not unpaired, press menu and rewind for 6 seconds while pointing at the paired device to unpair).
  2. Make sure the silver remote can't control the other device (turn it round, cover it up or turn it off).
  3. Hold it close to the Apple TV 4 and press the menu and rewind buttons for at least 6 seconds (you won't see anything happen while you do this)
  4. Then, hold menu and select (centre button) until the light on the Apple TV 4 flashes.

And you are also quite incorrect about pairing the old remotes too, Geez, the purpose of pairing was so that only the paired remote would operate the device it was paired with, pairing is not necessary to make a remote operate a device.

Telling someone seeking help they "shouldn't need to" is not a helpful answer.

I have this problem too. I have an old white Apple remote, an old silver Apple remote, and now a new Apple TV that came with a black Siri remote. I repurposed the two old Apple remotes years ago, but the new Apple TV4 accepts functions from any Apple remote. It's working with all three! How do I stop this from happening?

My Apple TV should only work with the Siri remote it came with unless I choose to pair it with another remote. I don't see any way to unpair my old remotes. Geez, my new Apple TV wasn't paired with those old remotes anyway, so it shouldn't be accepting input from them. But it does. How do I stop this from happening?
