can i custom install printer drivers later?

hello all. i just got a new HD for my macbook and i'm custom installing Mac OS X to save disk space i'm tight on. I'm not installing the extra language stuff and printer drivers. However, I was wondering if I find down the road that I need some printer drivers, can i just install them later with my Mac OS X disk (without having to do a reinstall of the entire OS)?

I'm still relatively new to the mac world, so sorry for the ignorance!

Hi maccajude,

I had made the same thing to save place. I do not know how to install driver from the OSX install disc later on, but you can always easily install the specific needed printer drivers by donwloading them from the manufacturer website.

Absolutely. You can install them using the "Optional Installs.pkg" that should be on your install disk. If you don't find "Optional Installs.pkg" you can find the individual packages in /System/Installation/Packages. If it is the Gimp-Print/Gutenprnt drivers that you want, get the latest from the project page.

Just about all printers come with a CD with a driver to install and if not can be downloaded and installed from their web site.

All those extra drivers that you would never need are just wasted space.
