I have a HP deskjet 3050a and would like to connect it to my wife running by a Airport Extreme. It is very unclear to me how to do that by the HP instructions. The printer creates it's own wifi, has anybody done this? can you give me some ideas?

not familiar about how hp handle it but my wives wifi printer from Samsung had some Samsung tool (could be that it only had windows version) would give set a static ip for the wifi printer and choose ssid and encryption password and then give an error but was a false flag because it still worked as indented. non of this was specific to what router one was using.
Some may need to use Bonjour printing if the Mac's system is older;
others may be able to use an AirPrint feature. ~ If your wife's Mac is
of a different system version and build model than your posted info
in the footer of your inquiry, it may help to detail that one specifically.
For some older systems, HP may have a driver and software update
however some newer systems have the most popular printer drivers.

My HP printers did OK until they failed & the estimated cost of repair was $$$!
So I bought a few different featured Epson models. (Later, ink is a problem.)
