Purchase of this item is not currently available

I keep getting this pop up constantly after switching over from an iPhone 6 to a iPhone 7. "Purchase of this item is not currently available. This item is being modified. Please try again later." It wasn't up until i switched phones that i was receiving this issue. I have signed out of my Apple ID/iTunes to no avail. Any help here would be appreciated.

Here is the problem, at least it was for me. When I restored from iCloud backup, some of the music I had purchased in the past was "hanging". I could tell this when I went into my Music folder, went to Songs, and scrolled through the list. There were about 15 songs, all from the same album, that had a spinning circle next to them. I tapped on each one individually and the download (cloud with arrow) symbol came up next to the song. I downloaded each song to my device and after the last one finished, Restoring Media under iCloud went away as well as the annoying "Purchase of this item is not currently available. This items is being modified. Please try again later" popup. Problem solved, no idea why it happened but it is an easy fix but you have to do it for each song that has the spinning wheel next to it!

Hey, I had this issue too, but a quick search on Reddit helped out.

So, basically, some apps you have on your phone are no longer supported and the backup keeps trying to download them. Go into icloud and where you would normally backup your phone, you should now see an option that says "Stop Restoring Backup" or something along those lines. Tap that, and it should stop. Then, you can go through your phone and the apps with the cloud icon near them will be the apps that tried to download but couldn't. You can delete them, because those developers have essentially stopped updating those apps.

I'm also putting the link to reddit here, because they probably explained it better: https://www.reddit.com/r/applehelp/comments/6lmnjc/purchase_of_this_item_is_not_ currently_available/

RE: Apps tied to other Apple ID accounts

I have heard of this scenario many times. Typically if you have a restore in progress, you can go to the app store and check updates. Each app pending will have a update button. Hit update, if the popup appears then you know it is tied to a different Apple ID other than the one signed in on the device. Once you remove that app and redownload under the correct Apple ID, issue goes away.

It is possible for apps to link to other Apple ID's and then the iCloud backup will copy the origin of the app and where it came from.

I just upgraded from a 7 to an 8, and had the same issue frustrating message. This easy fix took care of it (there were about 6 songs in my library with "clouds" on them). 2 songs from one artist downloaded immediately when I clicked on the cloud. The others from a different artist did not, but then I discovered that if I started playing the song, then paused it and clicked the cloud, the song downloaded.

All fixed now. Thanks gyeagley!

OMG! I got a new iPhone X yesterday and proceeded with the iCloud backup.

Kept getting this message--over and over, into the night.

Guess what it was??

That **** U2 album that was automatically downloaded into iTunes a few years ago! It was failing to transfer to the new phone. I had forgotten all about it. Finally figured it out when I connected to my laptop iTunes account.

Sorry, U2, but this one was a huge pain in the &*#$!! Took me HOURS to solve.

Hope this helps someone experiencing the same anguish!

J

(Fisheresque): EXCELLENT ANSWER! Now, someone needs to let Apple (Support) know that!!!!

Going through my (7year) history of app downloads that are inextricably tied to my Apple ID account, I saw a TON of apps that are no longer available and, therefore, not able to be successfully downloaded. I can see why the restore from from my iPhone 7 to the iPhone X got bugged; and sent into a popup loop. Apple either needs to remedy this disparity, or better make this issue known to the public; especially the part of the public that works for Apple Support 😝 😕

Ok, I hope this works for you. I went to do a restore since I had the same problem. Worried that restoring and starting anew would cause me to lose hundreds of contacts, I checked iCloud to see if I could retrieve the contacts from a backup. I noticed that the area normally highlighted for backing up said "stop restoring from back up." I figured that most of the apps and media needed were on the phone so I "stopped" the restore and did a back up from that point. Later finding out that there was an old app that was causing the problem. I don't know which app it was because its' obviously one that wasn't getting used. Apparently, older apps that don't get updated on the regular can cause loops in the core restores.

I hope this is a help.
