Is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware a legitimate software? If so why it is not in Apple Store?

I was informed by a Senior Technician from Apple Support that, Malwarebytes is the only Outside App Store that is recommended by Apple. Just wanted to let everyone know. I use it for my MacBook Pro and my Google Pixel XL. I really like their support and help. They have a great security blog for those who are interested. Hope this helps. Peace Out ☮ Veronica

It cannot be in the Mac App Store, due to sandboxing restrictions placed on such apps. It would not be able to do its job under such restrictions.

You should be aware that the Mac App Store is not a guarantee of legitimacy. If you search for "antivirus" on the Mac App Store, the vast majority of what you'll find are scam apps, and the ones that are legit are crippled enough by the sandboxing as to be unable to detect some current Mac threats.

toss Macafee in the trash, it will destabilize your mac - so will the rest of commercial Mac AV products.

malwarebytes one of two legit Mac protection applictions out there, the other is etrecheck

software in the Apple store is hardly a barometer to which legitimacy is measured in regards to functionality.

Malwarebytes and Etrecheck were both written by long time members of the Apple Support Communities. They are both safe and work as they are supposed to.
