how to make copies of photo slideshow DVD

A friend has a photo slideshow DVD from her mother's funeral that she would like copies of. My MacBook Pro (OS X Yosemite) has a DVD burner, so I thought I could help.

Any suggestions for the simplest way I can make a copy that will play on a DVD player?

While I can make copies of the VIDEO_TS folder or .vob file that will play just fine on my computer, they will not play on a DVD player. (The original plays on my computer or a DVD player.)

I've burned a DVD-player-compatible family movie from iMovie onto DVD before. Can I get this VIDEO_TS folder into iMovie to burn a copy that way? I tried using Mac the Ripper to make an MP4 from the VIDEO_TS folder, but iMovie was not an option for opening it.

Thanks!

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

How to copy previously-burned DVD-R video discs

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2059

To create an image file, launch Disk Utility and select File: New: Disk Image From Folder. In the window that appears, navigate to the desired folder and then click on Image. Give the image file a name, and click on Save when prompted. That’s it.

Or, if you have Roxio Toast, just use the copy function.

You need to copy (not move) the files with .VOB extensions out of the DVD Video_TS folder and then convert them to Mp4 video clips using the free download, Handbrake. Then you import the converted clips into an iMovie project and share out the project with the High Quality setting as File to your desktop. It will be an Mp4 movie. Drag that movie into the project window of a DVD project, and burn to a DVD disc, using DVD-R disc, and burning at 4x speed.

AHA!! Got it to work! Here's what I did:

1. Used Mac the Ripper to convert the disc data to an MP4

2. Imported the MP4 into iMovie

3. Exported as a video file

4. Dragged into iDVD and adjusted the disc map so the video would begin playing immediately upon insertion

5. Burned to disc

Thank you for the helpful responses! I think part of my problem initially is that the machine hadn't been used in awhile, so it was downloading updates, which made iMovie crash repeatedly.
