iPhone 7 Product (RED) Home Button not recognizing presses properly

So I put a home button sticker for my iphone. The saleslady said it was okay to put a sticker on the home button of the iphone 7 even though the sticker was meant for an iphone 6. It worked after but a few hours later it didn’t worked properly. Touch ID and reachability still works but presses don’t. I removed the sticker by digging it out with my fingernail. The metal part of the sticker popped out but the sticky part didn’t I scratched the sticker heavily to get it out. I did wash my phone with water but didn’t submerged it before all of that happened but I don’t think that’s the reason why the home button isn’t functioning properly. What should I do?
