Storage and Garage Band instruments

Where did you remove the Jam Pack files from? The loops are in a different folder than the instrument library.

The Instrument Library: The Instruments and lessons should in the following folders

• For the instruments: /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/
• For the lessons: /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Learn to Play/

The loops are in /Library/Audio/Apple Loops

If you cannot find the instruments in the system wide library at the top level of the system drive, check the hidden Library in your Home folder:

The user Library is hidden by default and may still be hidden.

To reveal the hidden User Library:

• Bring the Finder forward by clicking on the Desktop or the Finder icon in the Dock.
• Select your user/home folder (with the house icon in the Finder sidebar)
• With that Finder window as the front window, press the key combination ⌘J to bring up the View options.
• In the View options panel enable ’Show Library Folder’. That will make your user library folder visible in your Home folder, if it is still hidden.
• Open your Home folder, then the Library folder, look for the sub folders mentioned above ~/Library/Application Support/

Check also for the Loops in ~/Library/Audio

Which macOS version are you using?

When you select "GarageBand" or "Music Creation" in the sidebar of the System Information "Manage Storage" panel, and hover the pointer over the entry, do you see an "x" appear? Then click it, to delete all content associated with GarageBand.

Did you have GarageBand '11 or the newer GarageBand 10?

GarageBand '11 and older versions also installed Demos Songs.

Look into the folder /Users/Shared for a folder GarageBand, also in your own user folder in the Music folder for a GarageBand folder. There may be Templates and Demo songs installed.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using Sierra 10.12.6, and I don't see any options to delete.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I also have the same problem. I have followed all instructions but still "gargeband instruments and lessons are taking 1.02GB"

You did also delete the GarageBand.app from Applications?
