How do I delete "Home" in the maps app?

I want to delete the "Home" locator on both my iPhone 5 and iPad, both running iOS 10.3.2 . (The last thing I need is to have the item found by someone, and use the maps to find where I live.)

I tried to edit the location, which offers the ability to delete the item. It then gives me the option to actually delete, or cancel the operation. However, "delete" acts exactly like "cancel".
