Creature Speakers & Volume Levels

I just purchased JBL's Creature II Speakers and have plugged them into my iMac C2D. Everything is working fine but I have one problem. The speakers have an independant volume control fomr the computer, when I push the keyboard volume buttons it changes the computers output volume nt the actual volume on the speakers. So, how do I make it so the computer's volume control controls the speakers raher than just the output or what is a good setting for the Creature II Speakers at the computers max output volume. I don't want to blow the sounds card on my mac.

Unfortunately, I don't think that there is a way to do that. I too have a pair of external speakers that I use with my iMac. I find that if you leave the volume on 4 or 5 bars up, it's a comfortable setting to adjust with the speakers. If you turn the volume up too high on the iMac, you will most likely loose sound quality. Therefore you would want to keep the volume on the iMac as low as possible so that you can have good sound quality.

well, this isnt my problem, but i am wondering if it is possible to utilize both, the internal and the external speakers at the same time so that i can have a "surround" setup. If anyone knows how to do this PLEASE HELP!!

The way I understand the audio output is that it will not allow you to adjust the volume to a higher level that what is set on your speakers' volume controls. At least that is how it works on my Mac. What I do is turn the speaker volume up to a setting as loud as I would want it to be on the speakers themselves and then use the volume control in the computer to lower the volume from that point down or back up to that point. It works quite well that way and if you set it properly you won't have to worry about blowing a speaker.
